The Sanguine Circle is an 18+ extreme horror book club located in Winnipeg, MB. We're writers, dedicated readers, and everything in between, bonded by our appreciation for a genre that gets dismissed as shock value but actually pushes storytelling into uncharted territory.We focus on extreme horror, splatterpunk, and transgressive fiction.Our circle welcomes both horror veterans and brave newcomers ready to explore the genre's bleeding edge. We approach disturbing content with thoughtful discussion, mutual respect, and genuine literary curiosity in a supportive, inclusive space.
Our Reading Philosophy
We believe in a good balance between literary analysis and having a bloody, good time. Whether we're analyzing the queer themes in Poppy Z. Brite's novels, laughing at the over-the-top gore in 80s splatterpunk, or diving into the social commentary behind contemporary body horror, we approach every book with both critical thinking and genuine enjoyment. Some selections will be profound literary works, others will be gloriously trashy page-turners, and we're excited to dig into all of them!
